So, I like making mix cds & i will probably put up a couple mixes for download in hopes of people finding some music that betters their lives.

These are from free mp3's on other websites promoting the artist or from the artist giving it away themselves or from awesome independent musicians. I have nothing to gain from this except knowing that someone found a new artist that they enjoy. If you dig a song and would like to find more info on the artist, just put their name in google and you will be transported to their websites where you can find out more about them, buy their merch or see some tour dates. i strongly encourage purchasing a record (LP's are nice), shirt or seeing these artists live if they are still active.

These mixtapes will be multiple generes. I might occasionally put up a sampler for a specific type of music (i plan on putting together an ultimate instrumental mix and a local NOLA sampler at some point), but the monthly mixes will be all over the place.

Indie rock, post rock, hip hop, math rock, progressive, electronic, underground, overground, oldies, newbies, unknown. all types of bad ass music.

Here is the 1st one, enjoy and remember if you like the artist, please look into them, hopefully you find some gems.

A Solitary Attraction is the 3rd full length album written and recorded by Patrick Bailey, guitarist for New Orleans based instrumental band Smiley With A Knife.

Like his 2 previous albums, A Solitary Attraction is an experiment in capturing a moment. Each song is built one part at a time, starting with drum tracks. Layers of guitars and loops are improvised at the moment of recording and vocals are later added. None of the songs would be made if they weren't made at that time of recording, thus capturing that moment.

Like his main band, LoOmis' A Solitary Attraction is highly influenced by such acts as Tera Melos, Don Caballero, and Mogwai. With the addition of vocals and the element of self recording and improvisation, LoOmis is a truly unique sound.

A Solitary Attraction as well as LoOmis' previous 2 albums, A Momentary Distraction, and A Temporary Reaction are available for free download and full streaming at loomis.bandcamp.com.

I cant say how much I adore this band and the music they created (and they're from MY fucking city, New Orleans. so upset i never got to see them) This is a full length I never knew existed. I got in touch with the singer and he told me about this record. I found it online for $5 here if you want the real thing, but as long as you hear it, you're gold.
